Katamarayudu Movie Review : Pawan Kalyan’s Star

Katamarayudu, Director Kishore Kumar Pardasani’s Telugu remake of Ajith Kumar’s Tamil Veeram, starring Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Haasan, released in the cinemas today to positive responses from the audience.

Even though the director has made some changes for this Telugu version of the masala action drama, to better suit the Telugu audiences, It does justice to the original Veeram.

The movie revolves around the story of Katmarayudu (Pawan Kalyan), who is the village braveheart and makes sacrifices to raise his four younger brothers. The four brothers often require bailing out due to their constant brawing and fights. But each of the younger brothers falls in love and plans to get married to their respective girlfriends.

But Katamarayudu has an ideology that suggests women aren’t neccessary in their home and to get approval from their elder brother, the younger brothers plan to get him to fall in love with his childhoo girlfriend. Then enters Avanthi (Shruti Haasan). Will Katamarayudu have a change of heart? Did the brothers have anything to do with her arrival? How will the story unfold?

Although the plot is decent, and second half of the movie is a bit draggy, Pawan Kalyan gives a grade A performance, and Shruti Haasan’s performance is as stunning as she is. The supporting cast is appreciable too. Music by Anup Rubens, visuals by Prasad Murella and, the sharp editing are the highlights of this masala flick. The funny scenes between Pawan Kalyan and Ali are hilarious and worth a mention. And, if you are a fan of the Telugu Action style, you will love the fight scenes that are composed masterfully by Ram – Lakshman.

In conclusion: It’s the perfect movie for the Pawan Kalyan fandom, which has been hypeing about the movie for months now. As far as storylines go, It’s nothing extraordinary but Pawan Kalyan’s timing, high energy performance and adorable dance moves make the movie Paisa Vasool.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
