DAMAC Properties owner, CEO, and founder Hussain Sajwani is a UAE national and graduate of the University of Washington. Sajwani began as a Contracts Manager working for a subsidiary of ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), after which he launched his own catering business in 1982. This modest company grew to become a leader in the field that manages more than 200 projects in the Middle East, Africa, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Sajwani was also among the key figures behind the real estate boom in Dubai during the mid-90s, developing new hotels in the area to accommodate the increase in foreigners coming to do businesses the UAE. In 2002 Sajwani established DAMAC Properties as a publicly listed company trading on the Dubai Financial Market. Since then, the company has grown into one of the Middle East’s most successful property development firms, with some 2,000 employees, and influential projects in cities such as Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, Amman, Beirut, Jeddah, Riyadh, and even as far as London.
