A recent survey has shown that more Americans are open to using self-driving cars. A survey showed that 63 percent of Americans stated that they were afraid to use a self-driving car. In 2017, 78 percent of Americans stated that they were afraid to use a self-driving car.

Millennials and men trust self-driving cars more than anyone else. AAA has stated that people have to be better educated about self-driving cars. Greg Bannon is the director of the Automotive Engineering and Industry Relations for the AAA. He stated that 20 million more people today trust self-driving cars.

A self-driving car is something that will not be available for several years. However, vehicles are currently being tested. While many people like the idea of having a self-driving car, most people do not want to share the road with one. Only 13 percent of people stated that they would feel safe if they shared the road with a self-driving car. In fact, nearly half of people stated that they would feel less safe if they shared the road with self-driving car.

Seventy-three percent of women were afraid to use a self-driving car while only 52 percent were afraid to use one. Forty-nine percent of Millennials were afraid to use a self-driving car while 54 percent of baby boomers were afraid to use a self-driving car.

While most people are afraid to use a self-driving car, they are not afraid to drive. They trust their own driving abilities despite the fact that 90 percent of car accidents are caused by human error. Seventy-three percent of people believe that their driving ability is above average. Greg stated the fact that many people are confident in their driving abilities may explain why some of them are reluctant to use self-driving cars.

AAA is an organization that provides financial, travel and insurance to people. It is a non-profit organization that has been around since 1902.
